About CyberRN
Becky MacDonald (CyberRN) is a seasoned cybersecurity and technology leader with over 25 years of experience driving strategic, risk-based information security programs across healthcare, higher education, and nonprofit sectors.
As Chief Information Security Officer at Dynamic Campus, a leading provider of IT services to higher education institutions, Becky led the development of a standardized cybersecurity framework adopted by private, faith-based colleges across the U.S. Under her leadership, the client organizations saw average improvements in risk posture of 20% across 19 clients —with some exceeding 40%—contributing to stronger cyber-insurability and measurable reduction in breach exposure.
At Dynamic Campus, Becky launched the Dynamic Cyber Defense Solution, delivering right-sized, GLBA-aligned security services in partnership with leading MSSPs. Her collaborative, resource-optimized approach enabled institutions with varying maturity levels to implement foundational cybersecurity controls including SOC & SIEM, penetration testing, vulnerability management, and security awareness training. All leading to reduced cost and severity of cybersecurity incidents.
Prior to joining Dynamic Campus, Becky served as Chief Information Security Officer at Essentia Health, a 14-hospital nonprofit health system, where she transitioned the organization from compliance-driven IT security into a mature, risk-aware program. She designed and institutionalized the health system’s first enterprise-wide risk assessment protocol, championed medical device security by segmenting clinical IoT systems, and spearheaded deployment of tools like MFA, PAM, DLP, and SOC services. Her work included GRC implementation through ServiceNow, internal CSIRT development, and security architecture modernization across a complex, multi-site infrastructure.
Earlier in her career, Becky served as Manager of Network Services & Support at HealthPlus of Michigan, where she established the company’s first security and infrastructure program. At a time when HIPAA compliance was emerging, they created critical IT security policies and ensured alignment with both HIPAA and PCI regulations. Known for strong cross-functional leadership, she directed teams in desktop, networking, database, web development, and cybersecurity—leading projects such as email system migrations, VOIP rollouts, identity management upgrades, and enterprise network redesigns. Her innovative, resource-conscious approach helped build a secure, scalable technology foundation for over 250,000 members.
Becky started her cybersecurity career as a System Administrator serving local government, education, manufacturing, finance, and health insurance industries protecting identities, systems, networks and data.
Becky holds a Master of Science in Information Systems Management from Baker College and maintains top industry certifications including CISSP (ISC²) and CHISL (AEHIS), reflecting her deep expertise in both general cybersecurity and healthcare-specific information protection.
